In this post I would be giving guidelines on raising Pariah
Dogs. When you first bring a pariah puppy home (As I mentioned in earlier they
should be between 1-2 Months old) it may easily accept you or it may be nervous
and frightened first, as has seen nothing like it before. Don’t worry if it is
afraid of you it will eventually learn to get along with everybody. Just avoid
doing anything that may seem frightening or dominating to it. Feed him with a
bit of cooked meat or warm milk (Pariah Dogs love milk and meat) this will make
it feel comfortable with you. So In these ways he will recognize you as a
friend and not a threat. So when he accepts you by now, you should follow these:
1.
Vaccination
:
It is necessary for every dog get
vaccinated. To get your Pariah vaccinated contact your local Vet. Pariah is
relatively healthy dog breed compared to European dog breeds, so if get him
correctly vaccinated, daily exercise him and feed him well then you will rarely
have to visit a Vet.
2.
Feeding:
·
You will need to feed the puppy four times a day
when it is between 8 and 12 weeks old.
You can feed it with packaged puppy food, though they can go well with
1/3 roti (Indian bread) mixed in diluted milk and, cooked meat and an egg once
in a week, you can also feed it fruits and vegetables according to its liking
(I personally prefer unprocessed natural over packaged food). Do note that you
should not over feed milk and its products as their body may have low tolerance
towards lactose.
·
When it is 3 to 6 months old feed him 3 times a
day. ½ roti per meal, with some meat or an egg everyday OR you may feed him
normal packaged dog food as directed on the pack.
·
After 6 months the dog will eat as much it
requires, Pariah dogs rarely overeat. Give it meals according to its eating
pattern.
3.
Exercise
Requirements:
Pariah dog is a very energetic breed and
you need to sweat to get your dog exhausted. Playing with your dog is great
opportunity to know your dog better than ever. They are not that interested in
typical dog games like fetch. They love games like tag, tug of war, play
fighting (with other dogs), hide n seek etc. Do take him out with lash on they
also love to dig and chew.
Their exercise requirements are even
greater when they are 6 to 12 months old.
4.
Grooming
When they are puppies just bathe them once a
month with warm water. After they reach age of 6 months regular brushing will
ensure cleanliness and reduce shedding. At this time bathing them a few times a
year will do. Prior to bath cut out or comb any mats from its hair. Also lookout for teaks and fleas and remove them, when you take out a teak be careful not cut it and remove it completely.

What will be the care directions for a 6 weeks old pariah puppy?
ReplyDeletePlease respond as soon as possible
When they are puppies just bathe them once a month with warm water. Don't brush them when they are young, as it may cause itching. You can feed them diluted milk with Roti. Milk should be diluted because dog's don't tolerate lactose in milk, may cause indigestion. Make sure they meet with other friendly people and dogs so that they don't become aggressive towards other people and dogs. Watch for what they eat, many dogs eat cow dung which is certainly not acceptable so keep watch for that.

ReplyDeleteI have adopted an 10 week indie pup, please can you suggest a proper diet for him, exactly what's to be given in the morning, afternoon and night. I am giving him curd rice mixed with tinch of turmeric in the morning and afternoon, and biscuits with dilute milk in the morning and evening.. Twice a week eggs..
ReplyDeleteIn morning you can give him rotis, bread, biscuit and diluted milk. Curd rice is good but avoid turmeric in large quantities, a tinch is ok. Also the curd should not be concentrated. In evening you can give him boiled veggies like cabbage, potato, carrots and beans if your dog likes it. If he doesn't eat these veggies, try red tomatoes, generally dogs love it, one tomato wpuld be enough. Evening would be good time to feed eggs, twice a week is good. If allowed you can feed him rice or roti with some meat pieces in the evening, it is not compulsory, eggs are also fine instead of meat. Watch for his stool (potty) if any food results in liquid or bad stool then try to avoid that food.
ReplyDeleteYou can also give him dog food like pedigree. But I would prefer natural food, it would be perfect for him.

What to make 3 weeks old indian pariah puppy eat ?
ReplyDeleteI would suggest it's mother's milk if possible, if not then warm and diluted cow milk with a few small pieces of roti(brown bread)
ReplyDeleteBy end of second month you can start introducing more solid food.
Look for any allergic reaction and change the food based on it.
Adopted a pariah 3 days ago 45 days old (as vet said). Don't know what to give and how much? Right now I'm giving him cow's milk (not packaged). Please suggest some tips. And yes i named him 'Barfi'.
